ACE, otherwise known as the Association of Community Employment Programs for the
Homeless – held their second annual foodie ball this past Thursday July
17, 2015. This event attracted a great
turnout for a night of great food, open bar, and music on the beautiful rooftop
lounge of the Scholastic Headquarters in Soho, New York. Sponsored by Blue Apron and some of New York
City’s top restaurants, the Second Annual Foodie Ball benefits ACE’s mission of
training homeless men and women with skills to sustain self-sufficiency and
full-time employment.
Guests attended the event in festive summer
cocktail attire as plenty of food, drink, and music accompanied the warm summer
night. Restaurants participating in the
Foodie Ball included some of NYC’s top dining establishments. The National by the famed Geoffrey Zakarian served
watermelon feta salad with basil seed dressing, The Lure Fishbar served Lobster Salad,
Dinosaur Bar-B-Que served pork shoulder sandwiches (which are cooked for 16
hours!), tapas favorite Boqueria served Quail Egg Toast and Tomato Watermelon
Gazpacho, and Dean & Deluca served a large delicious anti-pasto spread with
artichokes, cheese, meats, and grilled veggies.
DJ Claudius Raphael spun groovy pop tunes on
the open air rooftop lit up with some mellow pink-purple lighting against the
scenic backdrop of the Manhattan skyline.
Indoors, a silent auction table was also set up with unique experiences
that featured a VIP backstage experience with Jimmy Kimmel and an Illy CoffeeY5 Iperespresso machine.
The night concluded with a fantastic afterparty
at Pravda, although we missed this one, we’ll be staying for the after-party of
next year’s Third Annual Foodie Ball – mark your calendar’s and don’t miss that
one!
